Human Services Psychology, Clinical, and Community

I am a first-year Clinical/Community student, and I am interested in studying how racial discrimination impacts health inequities among African-Americans. I’ve always been attracted to the field of Psychology and knew I wanted to help people and make a difference. Throughout my personal and professional development in my undergraduate and graduate studies, I realized that the way I wanted to help was by using my research to shed light on how detrimental discrimination is to the African-American community and decrease or eliminate those effects through policy change. This is the reason why I was interested in the Clinical/Community track, so that I could learn the best way to conduct research and apply it within communities, ensuring that the populations that need it reap the benefits of it.
